Development pressures often result in land previously dedicated to horse usage being rezoned for development as residential communities, commercial developments, or roads. While all of these things are necessary for any community, case after case proves the importance of maintaining horse-focused zoning where it exists. The loss of land dedicated to equine activities affects not only the equestrians who use it but also the community as a whole, and it’s significantly easier to plan ahead than it is to try and correct a problem after the fact.
